WEBTOON: Manga, Comics, Manhwa: Comics Reader

WEBTOON: Manga, Comics, Manhwa is a comics reading app by NAVER WEBTOON that provides access to a large library of webcomics, manga, and manhwa on Android phones and tablets. It has been available since July 1, 2014, and the current build is version 3.9.13, released on September 23, 2026. The app has been installed more than 100 million times and holds a rating of 4.61 based on 4,617,976 user ratings, which reflects how widely it is used for serialized reading.

Inside the app, readers browse series across many genres and follow ongoing stories as new episodes appear. Subscription tools let people keep track of favorites, and a comments area allows discussion with other readers. A separate publishing space lets independent creators share their own comics with a broader audience. The app is free to download and shows ads, while optional in-app purchases unlock premium content such as full series access and early episodes.

Version 3.9.13 is described as a maintenance update focused on minor bug fixes, so no major new reading tools were added. Because privacy and permissions matter when an app handles account and media data, it is worth reviewing what the app requests before installing. The permission list includes device and app history, phone, photos and media files, storage, camera, Wi-Fi connection information, and device ID plus call information. The listing is rated Teen, and the minimum supported Android version is 9.

What's New · 3.9.13

Version 3.9.13 contains minor bug fixes. No new reading, video, community, or purchasing features are listed in this update.

Regular comic readers who follow serialized webcomics, manga, and manhwa; fans of stories that have been adapted for television and streaming; and independent creators who want to publish their own comics and reach a wider audience.

Before installing, open your device settings and check which permissions the app requests, then grant only the ones you are comfortable with, such as storage for downloads, and review the in-app purchase options if you want premium episodes.

WEBTOON offers a broad, actively maintained reading library with a strong rating and a large installed base, and version 3.9.13 keeps things stable with minor bug fixes. The trade-offs are ads, optional paid content, and a fairly wide permission set, so it suits readers who are comfortable with that mix and willing to review privacy settings before use.
