Halo is one of the most awesome shooter franchises ever that had gained great popularity among gamers. In this article, we will consider the best Halo game options.
Why Halo games are so popular?
Halo is generally one of the greatest franchises in the gaming industry. In the early years, the first Xbox didn’t have a decent library of games. The first game in the line paved the way for countless books, toys, and TV series, and, of course, sequels.
If we do not know about the conflict between humans and the religious union of several alien race covenants, which is the central storyline of all games, almost every player has seen or heard at least once about characters such as Master Chief or his companion, Cortana’s artificial intelligence.
The Halo series has a twenty-year history behind it – a rather complicated one. The first part was originally planned as a real-time strategy, then – as a third-person action game. Eventually, it evolved from a PC and Mac game to a cult Xbox shooter.
Now, sixteen years later, the series is back on the PC – and, apparently, players have been looking forward to it. Over 160,000 people launched Halo: Reach at the same time immediately after release – the third-highest player base in 2019.
Halo lives even today: the fourth and fifth parts are great games. Halo Infinite is in development. But it’s Reach in the series that is a work of art, Bungie’s finest work that anyone is unlikely to ever surpass.
The best Halo games
The list of the most preferred Halo games in order from the most popular to least ones includes the following:
- Halo: Reach
The action begins in 2552, in the midst of a war between humanity and the alien alliance, the Covenant. The war itself by that time has been going on for a little less than thirty years, and for people, it is not very successful: the outer ring of the colonies has been destroyed, the “Spartans”, modified troops of people, are unable to effectively protect all worlds from invasion, and therefore the Covenant is gradually moving forward.
- Halo Wars
The game takes place 20 years before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. The human ship Spirit of Fire was sent by the United Nations Space Command to investigate and stop the Covenant on the former human planet Harvest. Upon learning of the mysterious Covenant excavations led by an unknown Arbiter, the ship’s captain, James Cutter, sends his soldiers to find out what is happening.
- Halo 5: Guardians
Two months after the events of Halo 4: Spartan Ops, Dr. Catherine Halsey contacted and gave her coordinates to the UNSC flagship Infinity; Detachment Osiris, led by former SVR operative Jameson Locke, was sent to the planet Kamchatka to free the doctor from Covenant leader Jul M’Dam.
- Halo: The Masterchief collection
It has modified versions of previous games, which were originally released exclusively on the latest generation Xbox platforms. The collection also has a multiplayer mode that includes all maps and multiplayer modes from each title. All 4 titles have been redesigned with new cut-scenes and an oily smooth 60 frames per second. The game’s visual effects and audio have also risen to high definition.
- Halo 4
It is an Xbox 360-exclusive shooter that opens a new trilogy called Forerunner’s Saga. The plot of the game continues the events of the third part and unfolds three years after the events of Halo 3. Chief and Cortana will have to fight both with representatives of the broken Covenant, as well as with representatives of the Forerunner race.
